It is worth noting that just as Protestantism was one of the sources of the development of modern capitalism, the ideological foundations of Confucianism and Buddhism contributed to the development of the spirit and culture of Japanese capitalism. In fact, the people who developed Japan's capitalist culture after the modern era inherited the philosophies of the “reformist thinkers” who led the social transformation of the modern era. They contributed to the creation of the spirit of capitalism in modern Japan, reflecting the traditional Japanese style of thought, which consistently values the common good, honesty, diligence, thrift, trust, and harmony. In this study, I will analyze empirically the historicity of the traditional Japanese way of thinking in engendering and transmitting the spirit of Japanese capitalism through the reality of Konosuke Matsushita, a representative entrepreneur of modern Japan who inherited the spirit of capitalism in Japan. In doing so, I will examine the reality of Matsushita’s practical management philosophy and the logic of the mind that underpins his management philosophy.
