- 1902년 세키노 타다시의 ‘조선古蹟조사’와 그 결과물 ‘한국건축조사보고’에 대한 분석 -
세키노 타다시는 일본의 고고학, 건축사연구, 미술보전에 기여한 인물이다. 한국과 관련하 여 1902년의 조선 고적 조사를 시작으로 1935년에 이르기까지 한국에 29회에 달하는 연구조 사를 하고 최초로 조선미술사 통사를 저술하였으며 조선의 유물의 도보를 15권 간행하고 그 외 다수의 저술을 남기고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 세키노 타다시 연구의 의미와 과제를 제시하였다. 그의 기록이 현재 우리들의 기초자료이며 개성이나 평양지역 등 해방 후 접근이 어렵고 유적의 보존이나 유지 가 불투명하여 사라질 위기에 있을 가능성도 있는 지역의 작업결과라는 점에서 의의가 있고 동시에 조선의 유적 유물조사연구에서 조선인이 배제되고 오리엔탈리즘 혹은 식민주의적 시 각에서 힘의 우위를 전제로 식민지 문화재에 대한 차별적이고 왜곡된 시각이 작용했을 가능 성도 제기되는 양면성을 가지고 있다는 점에 주목하였다. 특히 근년 발행된 그의 일기를 근거로 최초로서 특별한 의미를 가지는 1902년의 조선 고적조사에 초점을 맞추어 그의 조사의 궤적을 구체적으로 제시하고 그 후 결과물로서 도쿄대 학에 제출한 ‘한국건축조사보고’를 분석하여 도쿄대학의 학술조사로서 실시된 조사의 의미를 규명하였다.
Sekino Tadashi’s Korean Architectural Reserch in 1902 and Examination of Korean Architectural Research Report
Sekino Tadashi is a person who contributed to archaeology, architectural research, and art preservation. Starting from Korean Historical Architectural Research in 1902, he conducted 29 research on Korea until 1935 and wrote the first Korean Art History. Also, he published 15 illustrated books about relics of Chosun. This research questions about the meaning and subject of Sekino Tadashi’s research. The record of his research is our base source; it is in danger of vanishing because of difficulties to approach and preserve after liberation of Kaesong and Pyongyang. At the same time, this research remarks on the fact that people from Chosun were excluded from relic investigation of Chosun; it focuses on the possibility of doublesidedness from differential and distorted gaze of orientalists and colonialists’ view. Especially, it shows the path of Sekino’s research focusing on Korean Architectural Research in 1902 that has special meaning because it is the first historical record, which is rooted in his diary that was recently published. It examines Korean Architectural Research Report by Tokyo University in order to identify the meaning.
